About Farsa
The Village
The village of Farsa lies on the west side of Kefalonia around 10km north of the capital of Argostoli. From its position on the eastern shore of the Gulf of Argostoli, the village enjoys fantastic views across the water to the Paliki Peninsula and Lixouri.
Farsa is a small but vibrant village with around 220 permanent residents, although numbers swell significantly during Easter and in August as people return from other parts of Greece to enjoy their traditional family homes.
The village has a rich maritime history dating back many centuries and of which the villagers are very proud. Many of the current families living in the village are descendants of ships captains, sailors and seafaring traders; a walk through the village will give you a feel for this proud past.
Farsa has a small, picturesque quayside called Limnioni, equipped with swim ladders along with its own pebble beach, Ligia Beach, perfect if you fancy a refreshing swim and an opportunity to meet some of the locals whilst you are in the village.
There are three churches in Farsa. The main church of St Christopher is in the centre of the village, the small church of St Paraskevi is by Ligia Beach and the Church of Panagia (meaning All-holy) dedicated to the Virgin Mary, mother of God, is in Old Farsa, rebuilt on its original site following the 1953 earthquake.
